Anxiety...of the separation kind

I love my mommy...I'm just gonna go ahead and throw that out there. We are very close, and I have mommy withdraws when I haven't seen her for weeks on end. I knew Cooper would love me. He's my baby. My love. I carried him for 9 months, birthed him, fed him. I knew we would be attached to each other. Just like my mom and I are. However, I didn't know how attached that would be. We are currently going through the lovely phase of separation anxiety. The anxiety that causes my child to scream like he's being abandoned anytime I'm not within his sight. I can leave the living room where he's playing so nicely in the exersaucer and I turn the corner and my happy, smiling child immediately turns on the waterworks. And our new favorite game is to scream bloody murder in the car. I am not the best driver in the world, but add a screaming baby in the back and its all I can do to not slam into every car around me. But mommy sits in the back with Cooper and everything's golden. Bot, when this phase passes..the streets of Nashville will be a little bit safer. I love my baby, and I'm trying to cherish the fact that he needs me know...I know it won't always be like this.

Sippy heaven.

Cooper has never been a bottle baby...a boob man-yes, but not a bottle baby. So for Easter we got sippy cups in our Easter basket and immediately filled one up! Cooper loves to hold the handles and can get it to his mouth, but really the only thing he wants to do with it is chew.....sigh. We chew on everything! If I tip it up for him he will sometimes find the center of his mouth and get a little water out. But mostly we just chew on it. Oh well, it's practice at least! Here's a picture of my sweet man chewing on his new sippy cup.

My Easter Bunny

The Easter bunny came to our house! We had such a great first easter with Cooper. Nothing to exciting but just a really nice day! We made it to church on time...barely (even though we had like 4 hours to get ready).
We ate lunch at Dotson's in Franklin and then spent the rest of the day hanging out! Cooper loved that the Easter bunny brought him baby food and sippy cups. Here are a few pictures but check out the smugmug site for the rest.

Joining the party

Cooper has been quite the addition to meals lately...He insists on being included in every bite that is taken! He is too interested in what's going on during the meal to just sit in his car seat anymore, but he was just too unsteady to hang out in a highchair. So for about a month now mommy has been holding (more like wrangling) Cooper during every meal and having to eat with one hand. Well, this had to stop. Mommy decided that since Cooper is so close to sitting up by himself that we could try the highchair!
We propped him up in there and he had the best time!!! He still does everything he can to get at your food or drink, but mommy has both hands available. Everyone is happy!

Rollin, rollin, rollin...

Now that big man has figured this rolling thing out, we are in for it! He is all over the floor and makes it to the end of his ABC mat in no time. He loves to do it while you are looking the other way! Sneaky boy! He has found that he can get to things this way and has already started trying to scoot his way on his belly. I guarantee that if you check the blog in a month, he will be crawling! I'm never gonna catch this little bug!

First trip to the Nashville Zoo!

Last Friday the weather was on the verge of heavenly! The sun was shining and the temperature was a glorious 70 degrees! We were invited to go to the Nashville Zoo with our best buddy baby Claire! Claire's momma has a membership and they love to go play when the weather's nice! So we loaded up the strollers and sun hats and hit the road (I say hit the road..it's like a 10 minute drive).
The entire city of Nashville apparently had the same idea though. The place was packed!!!! We managed to get in pretty quickly and made our way to the picnic area. The food at the zoo is surprisingly really good, however pretty pricey. Cooper has recently discovered that even though he has never tasted the food you have, he wants it...bad. So mommy had to sneak her burger and fries but let Cooper play with her cup. After lunch in the big grassy field we headed out to make the rounds! The stampede of strollers proved to be just too much and we didn't really see a whole lot. But Cooper had so much fun being pushed around like a big kid in the stroller and loved watching everyone walk by (there were a lot of people to watch). We will definitely have to go back soon! Especially when Cooper can actually enjoy looking at the animals!

Guess who's 5 months old?!?!

Cooper is! We are just growing too fast! Mommy can't believe her eyes! It's been going to fast all along, but this month especially, it's like Cooper is a new baby every day! Cooper is so happy all of the time (good naps are a must though), learning new things, and just an awesome baby! There were rumors that Cooper had rolled over from his back to his stomach, but mommy hadn't seen it (and didn't believe daddy). However, just a a few days shy of 5 months old Cooper finally decided to share his new trick with mommy! It is so cool to watch Coop figure out how to do these huge things all by himself. It's just hard to believe that he's going to learn how to crawl  and sit up by himself soon, but I know he will.
We are still going to music class and Cooper loves it. He loves watching other kids (especially our friend baby Claire). Bathtime is also our favorite time of the day!! We have developed a really bad habit of crying at night in the car. I think it's a combination of not being able to see and not seeing mommy and daddy. Hopefully this little habit will be a thing of the past soon! We are so excited about the changes coming up in our lives and we love being 5 months old!
