Accountability

New Years Resolutions...who actually keeps theirs? Probably not many people. I, however, was inspired by a friend. Lucy (not really her name) on A Modern Day Ricky and Lucy. She gave herself goals for the year, things she wanted to improve upon, and updated everyone on her progress. So this year I have decided to do the same. At the end of every month I will give myself a grade on each goal so hopefully by the end of the year I will have improved upon all my goals. So here's my list:
1) Be a BETTER housekeeper
-I am not trying to be perfect here..but I definitely have room for improvement. I am trying to follow Flylady.com. Her methods are great, but with a 1 year old I don't always have time to follow to the letter. My goal here is really just to try and keep the house tidy so that when we have company I don't have to scramble at the last minute to scrub all the corners.

2) Get Fit!
-My goal is to make it to the gym at least 2 nights a week and do my Zumba video at home. This is purely a workout goal..not an eating one (I know better than to try to improve there)

3) Cook at least 3 nights a week at home.
      - frozen meals don't count. period.

4) Scrapbook at least 2 pages per month
     - I am so far behind in my scrapbooking that this needs to happen!

5) Blog at least once a week
-I am trying so hard to really keep my blogging consistent. Hopefully I can even bump it up to twice! :-)

I am not grading myself for the month of January because we were out of our everyday schedule until the 23rd or so. This made it hard to start mostly because we were out of town for most of that. Look for my post with my monthly grades at the end of February!

Ropin' and Ridin'

While we were visiting Diva and PawPaw in Texas they took Cooper (and us) to the rodeo! We weren't sure how Cooper would do. Really everything we do is we never know how Cooper is gonna react. But when he saw all the lights and animals he was hooked! He even blew kisses and waved to the rodeo clown! Cooper also knows when he looks good, and man with his new boots and hat from Diva and PawPaw he knew he was the cutest thing there!

Our First Haircut!

We made it until 14 months old. We obviously are not gifted in the head full of hair department. It took a good long while before we even had enough hair that we didn't look bald anymore. And it's still pretty scarce on the top as it is. But around Christmas everyone suddenly noticed that we had a mullet definitely on the horizon. My dad even went so far as to say we couldn't bring him to his office with a mullet, he was kidding of course (we think.) So Diva made us an appointment with the fabulous Ernie at Joe James Salon (how many babies can say that their first haircut was at Joe James?) We came equipped with multiple distractions and overall we think it went pretty well. No tears, no screaming, just some squirming. He really didn't like it when Ernie tried to cut above his ears, but Ernie was so sweet and patient with us and we couldn't love our new big boy haircut more. Here's to another first!

Christmas at the lake.

Christmas day we packed up our already full vehicle and headed up to the lake to hang out with Grammy, Grampy, Aunt Emmy and the rest of the family. As soon as we got there we dug into the presents. Apparently, Santa had to drop off half his sleigh full of toys for Cooper at the lake.
Cooper had a blast opening all his presents this year and was genuinely excited about certain things. Mickey Mouse and books were a definite highlight.
Unfortunately, we had all these great plans for the week and had to forget about everything when the entire household came down with a horrendous stomach bug. We all recovered in a few days but no one had much of an appetite for all the wonderful food places we usually HAVE to have. We still managed to have plenty of fun hanging out with Grammy and Grampy. On the way home from our vacation we had some transmission trouble (in the "good" car) and Grampy had to come save us from the gas station we thought we were going to have to move in to. Needless to say We thought we had been good, but I guess Santa thought a stomach bug and car trouble was what we truly deserved. :-)

Christmas Break part 1 (Crossville)

I am officially so far behind it will take me the first half of the new year to finish up last year. But here is the first of many new blog posts about our Christmas break.

The week before Christmas we stayed with Momma Sue and got to hang out with all of our awesome cousins! Cooper had a blast playing with all the toys that have been there since I was a little girl. We played with Claire and her fiancĂ©e Wes, Luke and Matt, Becca and Ben, and of course Abby and Uncle Witt. Diva and Pawpaw came halfway through the week and Cooper was so happy to see them. Christmas Eve we went to church (although Cooper stayed in the nursery) and headed back to Momma Sue's for our usual festivities. And Cooper was up early Christmas morning ready to dig in to his Santa presents! Here are some pictures of our week in Crossville.

There are many more pictures obviously, but for some reason I'm having trouble uploading them to smug mug...oh well, check my facebook for the rest! Up next a few pictures from Murray and a story entitled: The whole family gets the stomach bug! It's a thrilling tale.
